    The Nation Eye Institute (NEI) and American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Preferred Practice Pattern Guidelines advise against use of the common drug-store formulations in certain circumstances. 


    AREDS Report #8 indicated potential harm from zinc use. (Chew, 2001)

    Meso-zeaxanthin is the central carotenoid making up the macular pigment. While lutein and zeaxanthin can be obtained through a healthy diet, meso-zeaxanthin is scarce in commonly-consumed foods. Vision Elements Early Defense is a good source for this important carotenoid (Ma, 2016)
